It’s not hard to see why Lindsey and Shawn are a match made in heaven. These two are a fantastic couple for whom I’ve ever had the pleasure of working as a wedding photographer. When they asked me to capture their Pittsburgh wedding, I knew it was going to be unique. And boy, was it ever! Lindsey and Shawn put so much love and thought into every detail, from the sentimental touches to their adorable fur baby, Alfie, who stole the show with his presence. As Lindsey shared, choosing to have a winter wedding was the best decision they could have made. And I have to agree! The vision they created for their special day came together so beautifully, and it was an honor to be a part of it.
Photographing Lindsey And Shawn’s Pittsburgh Wedding
I was in awe of the love and happiness surrounding the happy couple as they got ready to walk down the aisle. The most notable guest was their adorable dog, Alfie. It was wonderful to see him be such an important part of their day, bouncing between Lindsey and Shawn’s getting ready rooms. Speaking of the couple, they were a stunning sight; Lindsey was absolutely glowing in her wedding dress, and Shawn looked dapper as ever in his suit. Special first looks with her bridesmaids and her father only added to the emotion of the day, and it was the perfect opportunity to capture all those pure moments of joy and love.
Lindsey and Shawn wanted to make their big day unique and special, and I was thrilled! They had their hearts set on having their ceremony on the grand staircase of their venue, the Renaissance Pittsburgh Hotel. It was a brilliant idea, and I was more than happy to go along with it. With the hotel’s stunning interiors as the backdrop, capturing their union was nothing short of amazing. What made the day even more special was the different special touches they had in honor of Lindsey’s mom, who had recently passed away from breast cancer. Having a reserved seat for her during the ceremony was a heartwarming tribute. It was a beautiful union overall.
One of the special moments of the day was the ride in the limo after the ceremony. Watching Lindsey and Shawn celebrating with their loved ones and capturing memories in the heart of our city – was unforgettable. I had a great time capturing the raw excitement and emotion of the group as we visited some of their favorite spots, but the real highlight was when we stopped at the Mt. Washington Overlook. It was here that the couple shared their first kiss, and the moment felt magical.
Celebrating The Lovebirds
Lindsey and Shawn’s reception at the Symphony Ballroom was remarkable! The stunning view of the Clemente Bridge and the North Shore was the perfect backdrop for the celebration. The memory table they set up was a touching tribute to their grandparents and Lindsey’s Mom. It was heartening to see how they honored her in different ways throughout the evening. The dedication of a song towards the end of the night brought tears to everyone’s eyes, and it felt like Lindsey’s mom was right there with them, celebrating their love and future together. It was a night that was filled with love, special memories, and so much joy.
When I asked Lindsey for any special advice to future brides, she had the most amazing reply, “Slow down and cherish every milestone throughout the planning process and once the big day comes, except you’ve done everything you can to get to this day and just soak up every moment. Try to block out the pressures of the world around you and truly just do what makes you and your partner the happiest. And lastly, try to find special moments to just be with your partner.”

I loved how sweet Lindsey and Shawn were when they praised all those who helped them make their dream wedding come true.
They mentioned, “For one, having Kayla as our photographer was the best decision we made! She was extremely helpful when we were planning out our timeline – we were honestly lost until we sat down with her. We completely trusted her and had so much fun with her and Kristen throughout the day and night! They captured so many beautiful and fun moments for us, and when she saw a special moment and that wasn’t necessarily planned, she would make sure to capture it, and we loved that spontaneity. Not to mention, she was incredibly helpful with keeping our whole bridal party on time.” Well, thank you for your kind words!
They added, “Our DJ, Mike Maxson, with Premier Wedding DJ, was absolutely fantastic. Planning with him was so fun and personable – he really listened to our vision and killed it! So many of our guests came up to us at the end of the night and days after complimenting his work. We had a blast with him as our DJ. We also got our photo booth from him, which was also a great hit!”
“Our florist, Rosebud Floral, did a phenomenal job with all our floral arrangements. Lydia and Jess were so great to work with, and everything was absolutely gorgeous, from the ceremony florals to our bouquets, boutonnières, and centerpieces.”
“Grandview Bakery did our cake and some of our cookies and pastries for our cookie table, and they did such a wonderful job!!! Not only was the cake incredibly delicious and beautifully done, but it was so special for Shawn and me to work with them since we live in Mt. Washington and got to support a local bakery.”
“Our venue, Renaissance Pittsburgh Hotel, was incredible. We wanted a venue that was in the city and had a romantic feel, and as soon as we visited it – we knew it was the place for us. Having the ceremony and reception in one place where our guests could also stay was the best of both worlds. The best part was being able to work with Greg! He completely saw our vision, guided us throughout the whole experience, answering every question we had, and we wholeheartedly trusted him.”
Lindsey added, “I could not have asked for better hair and makeup. Between Amelia with Simply Captivating Salon as my hair stylist and Allison with Allison Renock Makeup as my makeup artist – I felt extremely beautiful on my big day. They were so fun and trusting to work with, and not only did I have a blast with them, but my bridal party loved their work and having them be a part of the big day!”
