Kristen And Richard | Ligoneer, Pennsylvania

Weddings are full of emotions – happy tears, laughter, and lots of hugs to go around. It’s heartwarming to see how everyone looks forward to being a part of the momentous occasion when two individuals become one. And no matter how many weddings I capture, the feeling I get each time I watch a couple exchange their vows in front of their nearest and dearest is always an emotional one. Kristen and Richard’s wedding in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania was everything and more. Surrounded by family and friends from near and far to support and celebrate with them, Kristen and Richard felt blessed to share their happiness with all.

Kristen And Richard’s Wedding in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

I enjoy getting to know my clients and hearing their unique love stories. Kristen and Richard were high school sweethearts and had been together for 16 years before they said “I do.” Hearing how their relationship has evolved since they first started dating, and all the memories they’ve shared over the years, amazed me. On her wedding day, Kristen was all lit up with happiness as her bridesmaid helped her with her wedding dress. What really had me in awe was the intimate mother-and-daughter moment. Kristen’s mom held her hand and looked at her daughter with so much love and pride. It was such a touching moment.

Kristen was a vision in white. Her dress was adorned with a delicate floral design from top to bottom, and she held a beautiful fall-inspired bouquet in her hand that complemented her elegant look. Richard and Kristen also chose to have a first look, secluded amongst the greenery of their venue’s lush grounds. The weather was great with fluffy clouds in the sky adding an extra touch of magic to their photos together. As the two lovebirds saw each other, they had the brightest smiles on their faces, and Richard’s expression said it all as he admired Kristen’s beauty.

Kristen and Richard’s wedding ceremony took place outdoors with a pond in the backdrop. There were rows of white chairs placed on the lawn for guests to sit on. Kristen walked down the aisle to the theme song of Stark Trek The Next Generation with her stepfather, who was also the officiant. After sealing their marriage with a kiss, the couple walked out to the Jurassic Park theme song. I loved it!

Before their wedding reception, I whisked Kristen and Richard away for a few photos with just the two of them. As the evening became a bit colder, Kristen wore a chic fur coat that went perfectly with her wedding dress. The two of them shared sweet kisses, strolled blissfully hand-in-hand, and looked at each other lovingly. One of my favorite shots was near the lakeside, with dramatic skies, fall color, and the sun peeking through the trees with an amazing reflection in the water.

The couple held their reception beneath a white tent decorated with sparkling fairy lights, adding a romantic vibe to their wedding. And since Kristen loves to read books, the couple had a DIY seating chart with books covered in green paper and labeled with table numbers and their guests’ names. Plus, the books doubled as favors. GENIUS! The couple also had a full moon on the night of their wedding, which was incredible.

Kristen and Richard’s wedding was not only well-organized but every detail was carefully planned with plenty of personal touches throughout the day. I ask all my couples to share some sage wedding advice for future brides and grooms, and Richard and Kristen said “Trust your intuition, go non-traditional if you want! Do whatever it is that makes you happy.” And true to what they said, their wedding was certainly one-of-a-kind.
