Something about those early hours of a wedding is when I believe the magic starts, setting the tone for the rest of the day. As I started photographing Kayla and Collin’s big day, it was clear that the getting ready moments would be something special. Kayla and her bridesmaids surrounded themselves with excitement and laughter while Collin and his groomsmen were priming and prepping. The warm embraces and genuine smiles were a testament to the love surrounding the couple as they embarked on their journey together.
I couldn’t help but admire how Kayla looked stunning in her wedding dress and Collin was dashing in his suit. But what truly touched my heart were the personalized letters they had written to each other, which they saved to read on the morning of their wedding; it was a beautiful time filled with love, vulnerability, and pure emotion. As Kayla said, “Reading each other’s words and thoughts out loud right before our ceremony puts into perspective what this day is all about and how much we really love each other.” It was a touching reminder of the deep connection and love that brought them to this moment.
Kayla and Collin’s traditional church union was nothing short of amazing! Walking into the church, I was struck by the grandeur of the interiors and the way they perfectly complemented the couple’s traditional style. But what truly stole my heart were these two lovebirds, glowing with so much love and happiness as they said their vows. After the ceremony, I took the newlyweds’ portraits against the stunning backdrop of the architectural details indoors and outdoors. And let me tell you, those pictures turned out to be every bit as breathtaking as the couple themselves!
Capturing the newlywed’s portraits, I was in awe of their natural chemistry and genuine love for each other. One of my favorite moments was when they took 15 minutes of the cocktail hour just to be alone and enjoy each other’s company. It was heartwarming to see them take the time to savor their precious time together amid the whirlwind of the wedding day.
Another instant that stood out above all else was when they brought their fur baby, Finley, to the photo shoot location. Kayla and Collin were worried it would be chaotic and challenging to manage, but surprisingly enough, Finley was a true angel. Not only did she behave like a superstar, but she added an extra layer of joy and love to the photos. And as it turned out, having Finley there made the photos truly special and unforgettable.
Kayla and Collin’s reception was truly unforgettable! From the get-go, the energy between the couple and their guests made for an absolute blast of a night! With so much love, dancing, and laughter, it was apparent that everyone was genuinely celebrating the happy couple’s marriage. Even for Kayla and Collin, their last dance together as newlyweds was one they cherish. With the whole room to themselves, they could dance and talk without any interruptions, and it was truly special to witness. As the couple danced, their guests lined up outside for the sparkler exit, adding the perfect ending to an already magical night.
Reliving The Wedding Joy
When asked what they would have done differently, Kayla said she wished she had taken more pictures with her parents. She emphasized just how important both sets of parents were to the wedding planning process and how much they helped to keep things running smoothly throughout the day. When asked about their vendors, they were overflowing with positivity and gratitude. All of them were amazing, professional, and kind – making their wedding day truly special. And for the final piece of advice for any future brides out there, Kayla said, “Slow down and enjoy the day. Really soak in every moment; it goes by way too fast!”
