Every wedding is unique in its own way, and it’s my privilege to be able to capture those special moments for couples. And as the person appointed to document the day, I especially love seeing my couples enjoy their wedding day with their family members and friends. Plus, that also gives me the chance to shoot plenty of candid moments. Jackie and Alex’s wedding at the beautiful Historic Ashland was a treat to photograph. The happy couple thoroughly enjoyed their big day with their loved ones, and it was heartwarming to see the love and support they received from their guests.
Jackie And Alex’s Historic Ashland Wedding
I started my day photographing the bride and groom as they got ready. There was this one special moment that was my (and my couple’s) favorite part of the day when they read the letters they’d written for each other. It was a sweet and intimate moment that helped me document the essence of their relationship, and for the couple, it reminded them of how excited they were to start the rest of their lives together. They also had an emotional and sweet first look.
The Historic Ashland venue features an old Victorian-style mansion and is surrounded by lush greenery and dense woods. The ceremony was held outdoors and had the perfect lighting and setting for their elegant wedding theme. Jackie and Alex were glowing, and their love was clearly evident in their photographs – they just couldn’t stop smiling!
Throughout the wedding day, Jackie and Alex remained stress-free and simply focused on enjoying their big day together. The couple’s laid-back attitude is also what made their photographs look so perfect. No stiff or awkward poses – just a bride and groom celebrating their love and union. And, of course, with natural beauty in all directions, the venue had plenty of stunning spots for taking couples portraits.
Jackie and Alex’s reception was a blast, with their friends and family dancing all night. The couple did not miss any chance to have fun as they cheered and danced along with their guests and even had a fun cake-smashing moment too. Later, they also had some really interesting things to share with me.
Wedding Day Memories
Jackie recalled a close sentiment, “I had lost my grandmother a few months before the wedding, and she was looking forward to being there so much. I was able to use the dress she was planning to wear to wrap my flowers. It was a nice little token of her that I got to carry down the aisle and to keep her close.”
Talking about the one moment or memory from their wedding that stood out for them, the newlyweds said, “One of our favorite moments of the day was during our reception when we went outside to take some photos of just the two of us. Having some time for ourselves to just be giddy and alone to realize we were MARRIED was such a sweet time! We loved having everyone there to celebrate with us, but it was so special to have a few minutes to ourselves to relish being husband and wife.”
Jackie also had a great piece of advice for all future brides, “Remember to stay present throughout the day! There is so much planning and emotion leading up to the day that it can feel like a relief to finally be there. I wish I could’ve slowed down the time to dance more, talk to more guests, hug my family a million more times, and replay our ceremony over again.”
